For 25 years I worked as a health professional with elderly and disabled men and women in hospitals, retirement homes, and private homes. I thought I would know what to do when the time came to care for my own father. But there was more to it. I experienced first-hand the emotional roller coaster ride and the many challenges involved in caring for an elderly loved one at home. It can be done and the sharing of past memories and laughs are priceless, but the tears, frustration, and anger are part of it, too. With the right attitude, knowledge of resources, and support you can do it. In this book and speaking engagements I share my experiences and knowledge in the hopes it will empower you to help your loved one remain happy at home.I earned my Masters degree in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California. In my retirement, my husband, Hugh, and I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Sacramento.
